Racism Towards Whites
Introduction
Anti-black racism has a long and reasonably well documented history in various countries around the world, namely the United States, with its legacy of slavery and segregation. Other nationalities also played a role in the discrimination and oppression of black people, such as the British, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Dutch, and the Danish, who also played a role in the Transatlantic Slave Trade. There have also been documented cases of racist attacks towards blacks in various other countries, such as China and India.
Another expression of racism, however, has been less documented and is generally less understood and focussed on by the general population: anti-white racism. It is even dismissed by many people without further inquiry, who claim that such a thing does or can not exist. Their logic is that because systemic racism and enforced legal segregation discriminated against black people, ‘reverse racism’ (which is really just racism) towards whites cannot exist. Of course, the truth is the truth, regardless of what people believe, and anti-white racism is most definitely a thing and in some places appears to be increasing.
This article is not to take away the experiences from non-white people who have experienced hate, discrimination or racism, but to add to the conversation and show the other side for those who are not fully aware of all those who are affected by it.
Evidence
There is a large and growing body of evidence to support the claim that anti-white racism exists and is continuing to spread in some parts of the world. Below is a list of just some of the examples from the last few years, which seems to have increased since the George Floyd protests and the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The retreat advertises itself as a “free online retreat for white folks.” The event uses a 10-day “pray-at-your-own pace” model with audio reflections and prayer prompts that “invite white people to search their souls.”

Cause
There are several causes which are likely contributing to the current rise in anti-white racism and attacks towards white people.
1) Ignorance about Slavery
There is much discussion about slavery at this time, and the dominant narrative held by many, and perpetuated by some of the media is that slavery is a phenomena specific to white people. In other words, people believe that either white people created slavery, or that they are the only race to engage it slavery, and therefore to oppose slavery is to simultaneously condemn white people for their misdeeds of the past. The problem with this narrative is that it is not true.
The history of slavery dates back thousands of years, has occurred in multiple parts of the world by multiple races, religions and tribes, and even though some white people contributed to (i.e. the transatlantic slave trade), some white people were also the victims of it too.
In addition, if the white people who contributed to slavery should be condemned or criticised for their participation, an understandable response, then it logically follows that white people who tried to end slavery should be complimented and admired. The British Empire passed the Slavery Abolition Act 1833, and America officially abolished slavery in 1865 by adding The 13th Amendment.
Lastly, slavery unfortunately still exists in the form of ‘modern slavery’, which largely takes place in parts of Africa, Asia, the Middle East.

2) Rising Narcissism
Narcissism, which is a cluster of traits including vanity, egotism, lack of empathy, arrogance, and exploitation, has been increasing over the past few decades according to some research. It is possible that since narcissism is increasing, the desire to judge, scapegoat and punish both individuals and groups will also increase, which may explain some of the current views and treatment towards white people. This is not to suggest that narcissism is only increasing amongst non-whites, but that it may be a contributing factor to the division, animosity, and discrimination at this time.

3) Critical Race Theory
The third factor that appears to be contributing to the current trend of anti-white rhetoric and behaviours is due to ‘Critical race theory’, which some have being trying to teach in schools in the United States, and also attempts being made in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Critical race theory (CRT), which began as an academic movement of civil-rights scholars and activists in the United States, is now seeping its way into the American education system, despite there being no laws that discriminate against race, and slavery was abolished over 150 years ago.
Some argue that it no longer reflects true racial equality, which was clearly necessary prior to the civil rights movement, but rather now reflects a marxist agenda to attack capitalism and American values, and promote socialism through forced equity instead.
A number of people, including both parents and children who strongly opposed CRT have decided to fight back, and various states in America have already or are looking to ban it from the curriculum.

Implications
Terms like ‘white privilege’ may have contributed towards a ‘systemic neglect’ of white working-class pupils, a controversial new report from a group of MPs has claimed. Disadvantaged white pupils ‘underperform significantly compared to other ethnic groups’ and have been ‘let down’ for decades by the education system, the Commons education committee said. Discourse around the term ‘white privilege’ can be ‘divisive’ and using ‘politically controversial’ phrases in schools ‘may not be consistent with duties under the Equality Act 2010’. It has been recommended that officials find ‘a better way to talk about racial disparities’ to avoid ‘pitting different groups against each other’.
